Graphic Novice Comic Book Podcast
A sometimes misinformed, sometimes shockingly informed, weekly discussion of all things that are even vaguely related to the world of comics. Each episode we review current releases, discuss issues relevant to reading and collecting comic books and mix in a healthy dose of comical off-topic banter. You can reach us at email@graphicnovice.com, or come check out the various other sources of propaganda we offer at http://www.graphicnovice.com.

In this, our 38th episode, we start out with all the familiar off-topic banter, including some podcast network discussion and the potential for an indie comic review special.  One of our co-hosts spends the majority of the episode offline, and we discuss a serious lack of karaoke tracks for the Wolverine Memorial Bad Karaoke Jam. The majority of our comic news session revolves around re-numbering, the increasing price of comics, and various event related conspiracies.

In our "Rapid Fire Review" segment for books released on October 15, 2014, we discuss Evil Empire #6, Lumberjanes #7, Wild's End #2, Batman Eternal #28, Teen Titans #3, Cutter #3, Deadly Class #8, Manifest Destiny #11, Trees #6, Avengers & X-Men: Axis #2, Death of Wolverine #4, Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy #1, Edge of the Spider-Verse #5, Fantastic Four #11, Magneto #11, New Avengers #25, and Uncanny X-Men #27.

Following "Best Book of the Week" selections, Doc and Nickel try to come up with a method to make comics a full-time profession while maintaining a comfortable lifestyles, and disucss some of the gloom and doom being preached by certain comic retailers.  As always, we wrap things up with a look at what we'll be checking out in the upcoming week (October 22, 2014).  Download episode 38 today, and help us support the majestic Actic Narwhal.

Graphic Novice attempts to connect with a new demographic this episode, and as a result, our explicit rating gets a bit more explicit than usual.

The big comic news of the day is DC raising the price of individual Batman issues to $4.99 during the upcoming Endgame arc.  We spend a considerable amount of time talking about comic pricing, and a little bit of time discussing Wolverine's pre-mature death in Nightcrawler #7.

In "Rapid-Fire Review" we look at Crossed Badlands #62, Batman Eternal #26, Detective Comics #35, Gotham Academy #1, Grayson #3, Cutter #1, Nailbiter #6, Peter Panzerfaust #21, Protectors Inc. #9, Alex + Ada #9, The Fade Out #2, Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier #1, Captain America #25, Death of Wolverine #3 (of 4), Moon Knight #8, Silver Surfer #6, Thor #1, Uncanny Avengers #25, X-Men #20, Sally of the Wasteland #3, and Armor Hunters Aftermath #1.

After choosing our best and worst books of the week, Doc explains why he is abandoning the Plus/Minus system he proposed a few episodes back.  We wrap things up with a quick look at the books we'll be checking out after their October 8, 2014 release date. A certain guest editor put this episode together after a night of drinking, so if it sounds a bit off, dont worry, we think our regular editor, VF, will take the reigns back after he hears it.  Thanks for listening!

A jam packed episode, in which Graphic Novice welcomes Neil Cetrangolo from the Dark Angels and Pretty Freaks podcast to help review and discuss the 8th Walking Dead Trade Paperback.  The intro banter includes a disucssion of Doc Thirst's reputation, his drinking habits, the nasty snakes that live in the walls of his home, and the world's comfort level with VF's naked body.  Prior to the big Walking Dead segment, we once again take a look at the books we read the previous week (September 17, 2014), including Evil Empire #5, Batman Eternal #25, Bodies #3 (of 8), Outcast #4, Saga #23, Amazing X-Men #11, Inhuman #6, Magneto #10, New Avengers #24 and X-O Manowar #29. After choosing our best and worst of the week, we are joined by Neil, and rejoined by our executive producer, "Sometimes Fred", to talk about some comic news from the past week and look at the Walking Dead comics, issues #43-48.  We wrap things up, as always, with a look towards all the comics being released on September 24, 2014.  Check us out, and keep Neil company as he slums it with us over here on the wrong side of the podcast tracks.

This special episode features Doc, VF and Nickel discussing Nickel's first time at a comic conference, the 2014 Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo. The guys discuss media accrediation, the venue, parking, Alice Cooper, the Image Comics artists panel (featuring Chip Zdarsky, Nat Jones, and Vic Malhotra), cosplay, and walking the floor at a con. An unpolished, unplanned episode that fits in perfectly between landmark episodes 34 and 35. Shorter in length, but longer in Nickel.
